background: The protein encoded by this gene is a Kruppel-related zinc finger protein which is characterized by the presence of an N-terminal repressor domain, the Kruppel-associated box (KRAB). The KRAB domain is a potent repressor of transcription; thus this protein may function in transcription regulation. Three alternative transcripts encoding the same protein have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] Function: May be involved in transcriptional regulation. Tissue Specificity: Ubiquitous. Similarity: Belongs to the krueppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. Contains 20 C2H2-type zinc fingers. Contains 1 KRAB domain.
